Knovel Beta

We are pleased to welcome you to the new Knovel beta. It’s an entirely new experience that we’ve redesigned from the ground up, giving you increased speed and better answers to your engineering questions. As you will notice, search results are presented in a new and different way to improve review and navigation. Interacting with full-text content is no longer reliant upon the Adobe reader, which recently dropped support for keyword highlighting from external search servers. Overall, it means improved access to Knovel content.

As you use the beta, note that there are a few areas still under construction include the following:

• My Knovel: To take advantage of the shared folder features in the new Knovel platform, you must create a user profile in the current Knovel platform before you access the beta.  With the new features of My Knovel, you can tag members of your work group or student team and share folders, with links to saved titles, content sections, and search queries.

  If you have a user profile, your My Knovel folders have been migrated to the beta platform. This was a one-time migration from current Knovel to the beta environment. This first time data transfer removed any artifacts that were saved into your beta My Knovel folders.   Now, any artifacts you save in the beta platform or the current Knovel platform will be saved.  The first transfer of My Knovel links from current to new Knovel included book titles, content text sections, tables, and most Basic Searches.  Your saved Data Searches and searches within titles will be migrated at a later date. The migration of saved Data searches and searches within titles will not remove any artifacts from My Knovel in the Beta.

  Until we retire the current platform, Knovel will maintain a one-way synchronization of My Knovel from the current to the new (Beta) platform. Items saved in the new (Beta) platform will only be available there and not in your legacy My Knovel account.

• Not-Authorized Icon: We are still addressing the tagging of titles that are ‘expired’ in customer’s subscriptions. When browsing and searching using the ALL CONTENT (vs MY SUBSCRIPTION) these icons may not appear in the display. This issue will be remedied in the near future.

As you review the new Knovel, please send us your feedback so we understand what’s working for you and what we can improve. Your feedback allows us to respond to your experiences in a timely way! A link to the Feedback site is available from the home page. We will continue to update this page as new releases are promoted to the beta site.

As you explore the new Knovel, keep in mind that you can return to the current Knovel site at any time by clicking the Exit the Beta link on the home page. However, if you like the experience, please feel free to continue using the new Knovel site as your platform of choice.
